The Tasmanian node of Nectar is hosted at the University of Tasmania and shares connections via a diverse pair of services to the mainland. Due to the cutting of the Basslink cable for repair work the university has switched to backup services, however these services have significantly less capacity. These backup services are shared with state government, schools and other organisations.
We ask that Nectar users defer data transfers into and out of Tasmania during extended business hours (8am – 6pm). If you must do bulk data transfers during business hours please lodge a ticket with support@nectar.org.au so we can schedule resources and timing to avoid impacting the Internet connectivity into various local organisations.
This hazard notice will be in effect until further notice. Basslink repairs may be completed by June 2016.
