We are experiencing an ipv6 issue at Monash AZs. If your VM has an ipv6 address attempts to access an external host also with ipv6, the connection attempt may hang. The issue does not affect ipv4, and you should not be experiencing any issues with these services.
Whilst we investigate the on going issue, you may utilise one of the following workarounds if you experience an issue with ipv6 connections:
1) configure /etc/gai.conf to prefer ipv4 over ipv6
2) disable ipv6 at the interface using "sudo sysctl -w 'net.ipv6.conf.eth0.disable_ipv6=1'"
